Content is King.
Does your audience really care about what you have to say in your marketing? So often, we rip apart piece by piece the content we put online. We scrutinize every detail until its absolutely perfect. And we communicate about the aspects of our business that we absolutely LOVE. But there’s one problem I recognize across every industry. It doesn’t matter if you’re making 5 figures, 6 figures, 7 figures, or 8 figures.Because so many people are blind to this message. It’s hard to hear, but I’m going to tell you anyway.
Your audience doesn’t care about YOU.
Time for some Tough Love….
Now before you raise your pitchforks at me, hear me out. More often than not, there’s one thing we all LOVE to talk about.Ourselves. There’s a reason selfies sell. And though we’re all perfectly unique and awesome… when our prospects come to us, that’s not exactly what they are focused on. They want to know how we will solve their PROBLEM. Yet time and time again, instead we….Pitch our products & services on social telling our clients to buy now post random blogs and articles online no one outside our industry even cares about expect one email or one ad promoting ourselves to magically lead to clients yet it never works. So here’s what to try instead.
Write to your audience’s pain.
What’s your ideal client struggling with? What issues do you solve that they are losing sleepover? Your prospects are far less concerned about how fancy your product is, how amazing your background is, or how great your website is. For them to even consider those things, they have to know that you can solve their problem. Stop getting ahead of yourself, and focus your marketing on THEM.
Tell them what, not how.
You and your audience may both think it’s important to know the nitty-gritty details to the solutions you offer, but don’t put the cart before the horse. There’s a reason you don’t talk about how you’re going to plan your future together on your first date.Focus on what your target needs to do, and stop overwhelming them with details and industry matters. You’re the expert. Learn to redirect your content to help them realize you’re the how.
Share some great stories.

The best way to reach your audience is by helping them see themself within your content. That happens through relatable stories.Every timeless story has a hero, a villain, and a guide. Great content captivates your audience within short and simple stories that position YOU as that guide.Instead of selling, share stories that your prospects see themselves within.
