A few things that are sticking around in 2021
After a year like 2020, the overarching changes we’ve seen aren’t going to disappear anytime soon. It’s time to accept our new reality and find a way to capitalize on the new opportunities it has brought us. Spoiler alert, fear isn’t the answer and neither is turning a blind eye. We must recognize and act on the year ahead of us.
From personal to professional, the last 12 months have truly shown us the necessity to welcome and act on change. Luckily we’ve been given the perfect storm to make things happen. We wanted to share a few things that won’t be changing in 2021.
- The Customer is in Charge
No matter what industry you’re in, we’ve all heard “the customer is always right.” Whether you agree with the statement or not, this year and forevermore, the customer is in charge. We’ve given customers so much say as we navigate the new waves and they aren’t giving up control anytime soon. No, this doesn’t mean you have to be on call for your customers or be bossed around by their wants and needs. It means you have to put them first. The most important thing to customers right now is safety. It’s absolutely critical that you put your customer’s safety first, no matter what your business. Not only is their safety key, but communication about your safety measurements are also important. Your customer has to know that you’re prioritizing and protecting them. The best way to let them know is through social media. It’s fast and effective and it leads us to our second point.
- Online Shopping is King
Hey, news flash!!! Your customers aren’t hanging out in brick and mortar anymore. You have to meet them where they are and that’s online. As the world was turned upside down, our society realized that nearly everything can be accomplished online. Remote work has become not only normal but necessary. Although we’re all still figuring it out if you haven’t started moving your business online, your time is running out.
- Social Media is The Name of The Game
No matter what the business, everyone has to find their voice online. If you haven’t established your social media yet, there are a few things you should keep in mind as you venture into the space. Managers of social media have to be producers, storytellers, and photographers. You have to have a clear vision of what you want others to see because their first impression will likely be what they see from your social presence. What’s interesting online these days isn’t material or staged products. People want to see real-life success and struggles. We’re craving real connections and if we’re to attain that online then it’s necessary for us to be candid with customers. You must be a genius in your craft and in your content.
Our world changes daily and the online space is no different. Trends today could be gone overnight. The most important thing to keep in mind is that you must
welcome change with open arms. Be able to reinvent your business and see the opportunities beyond what you thought possible. Just remember you’re not alone and if you’re looking for further advice and support, stick around. We’re It and we’re on It.
